The Reason Khloe & Kourtney Kardashian Were Snubbed From The MET Gala

Publish date: 2024-05-18

e MET Gala is one of the biggest annual events in Hollywood. Every year, the world’s most famous faces gather to celebrate fashion and art. While it’s telling who scores an invite to the gala, it also speaks volumes to see who doesn’t end up making the cut.

Unsurprisingly, the Kardashian-Jenners showed up in full force to the 2023 edition, with Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner all wowing on the red carpet. But one person from their family who was notably missing was Khloe Kardashian. Though the middle sister joined the event last year, she was absent from it this month.

Kourtney Kardashian was also absent from the gala, despite showing up last year with her then-fiancé Travis Barker (the pair ended up tying the knot in lavish fashion last year).

Neither Khloe nor Kourtney have provided an official reason as to why they skipped on the MET Gala. But there’s speculation that it may not have been a choice. Rather, the sisters may not have been given an invitation.

In March, it was reported that some, if not all, of the Kardashian-Jenners were being axed from the MET guest list, as Vogue editor Anna Wintour was attempting to be stricter with whom was invited to the event.

“The Met Gala could be Kardashian-free this year after the whole family of reality stars attended en masse for the first time in 2022,” Page Six reported at the time.

“Sources tell Page Six that Vogue boss Anna Wintour is cracking down on the guest list at the annual fashion fete — and that no Kardashians will make the cut,” the publication continued. “Vogue wouldn’t comment on the event’s guest list when we reached out.”

Ultimately, some of the Kardashian-Jenners did make the cut. But it’s possible that Khloe and Kourtney didn’t, so they had no choice but to sit this gala out.

Nevertheless, it appears there were no hard feelings. Khloe was quick to re-post photos from the gala, despite not going. She even called out Kylie and Kendall for not sharing content on their socials quick enough.

“Kenny and Ky post so I can repost your epic epic glory!!!!! I’m not being sued by photogs,” the reality star wrote.

Additionally, Khloe just welcomed her second child, a boy, via surrogate last fall. So, it’s possible she decided to skip out on the MET since she has a young baby at home.

If one thing is clear, it’s likely that finances weren’t the reason Khloe and Kourtey skipped the gala. Though tickets cost an average of $35,000, this is hardly a high price for the Kardashian-Jenners, especially if it results in a night of positive publicity.
